About The Scholarship:
Michael R. Heeks Memorial Scholarship. $2,000 scholarships in memory of Michael R. Heeks, a 2008 THS graduate, to be awarded to seniors going on to higher education. Candidates will be evaluated on the following criteria:
- Meaningful involvement as a member of one of the ACE Foundation-supported competitive academic teams (see application for qualifying teams)
- Academic distinction as demonstrated by a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
- Demonstrated outstanding personal character.
In addition to the application, an essay and letter of recommendation are required. Financial need is not a consideration. Information posted in Spring 2026 with application deadline.

2025 Winner
The Trumbull ACE Foundation in conjunction with Symmetry Partners, an investment advisory firm in Glastonbury, was pleased to announce the 2025 Michael Heeks Scholarship Award recipient. This scholarship honors the brief life of Michael Heeks, a 2008 graduate of Trumbull High, who tragically passed away at the age of 22. Michael always strived for excellence and was passionate about work, travel, and his family.
Jaspreet Singh, the 2025 Heeks Scholar – our 23rd in the program – was selected from an applicant pool that once again made the Selection Committee’s task extremely difficult.
Jaspreet was a highly-involved member of Trumbull High’s business teams as President of the DECA Marketing Team and a four-year member of the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) Club. He was also a two-year member of the Model Congress team and an important contributor on the We the People team that finished 12th in the country. He is majoring in Business at New York University.
